VOLT is seeking an experienced Electrical Test Engineer to contribute to innovative projects in the field of molten salt reactor technology. This role involves hands-on testing and analysis to ensure the efficacy and safety of advanced systems.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a Test Engineer focusing on the evaluation of molten salt systems and components.
  • Assist in the design and development of necessary instrumentation for molten salt applications.
  • Program and manage control systems for various tests and experimental setups.
  • Establish and implement testing requirements, plans, and specifications for unique components operating in high-temperature molten salt environments.
  • Support the fabrication and assembly of testing hardware and conduct experiments in controlled laboratory settings.
  • Perform detailed scientific analysis on test data and prepare comprehensive reports documenting findings related to molten salt reactors.
  • Promote continuous learning and adherence to nuclear industry best practices to enhance design quality and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Foster a collaborative and safe environment for laboratory and testing activities.

This is a full-time position that requires a strong educational background and relevant experience:

  • B.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, or Materials Science Engineering; advanced degrees are advantageous.
  • Experience with exotic fluids, particularly at elevated temperatures exceeding 400°C.
  • Hands-on experience in the design, fabrication, and operation of unique equipment is highly valued.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD for experimental design.
  • Familiarity with programming and operating DAQ/PLC/SCADA systems; experience with LabVIEW or Siemens is a plus.
  • Field experience in the start-up, troubleshooting, and calibration of electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical design and fabrication standards is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a creative approach to engineering challenges.

Compensation:
$80.00 per hour, with variations based on qualifications and experience.
