Molten Salt Systems Electrical Engineer

VOLT is seeking an experienced Electrical Test Engineer to contribute to the Reactor (MCFR) program. This role involves on-site testing activities, including the development of test plans and specifications, executing test activities, and analyzing data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a Test Engineer for molten salt systems and components related to MCFR technology.
- Assist in the development and implementation of necessary instrumentation for molten salt systems.
- Design and program control systems for various tests and experiments.
- Establish test requirements, plans, specifications, and procedures for unique components in high-temperature molten salt environments.
- Support the fabrication and assembly of testing hardware.
- Conduct laboratory testing to ensure safe operations and collect high-quality data on molten salts.
- Perform scientific analysis on test data and generate comprehensive reports documenting findings related to molten salt reactors.
- Promote continuous learning and application of best practices within the nuclear industry to enhance design quality and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Foster a collaborative and safe environment for testing and laboratory activities.
This is a full-time opportunity. The ideal candidate will possess:
- A B.S. degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, or Materials Science Engineering; an advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience in research involving exotic fluids, particularly at temperatures exceeding 400°C.
- Hands-on experience in the design, fabrication, operation, and scientific analysis of innovative equipment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD for experimental design.
- Experience with programming, troubleshooting, and operating DAQ/PLC/SCADA systems; familiarity with LabVIEW or Siemens is advantageous.
- Field experience in start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, diagnostics, testing, and calibration of electrical/I&C systems.
- Knowledge of electrical design, wiring, and fabrication according to relevant codes and regulations.
- A track record of safely handling laboratory chemicals and working in hazardous conditions.
- Familiarity with fabrication processes and limitations.
- Experience in scripting and automating analysis tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a creative approach to challenges.
Compensation:
$80.00 per hour. The pay range offered will depend on various factors, including education, work experience, location, specific job duties, and certifications.
