Annie Malone Children and Family Services is thrilled to present an opportunity for a Youth Support Specialist with ATTRACTIVE COMPENSATION.

Available Shifts:

Sunday to Tuesday 7am-7pm & 4 hours on Wednesday

Sunday to Tuesday 7pm-7am & 4 hours on Wednesday

Thursday to Saturday 7am-7pm & 4 hours on Wednesday

Thursday to Saturday 7pm-7am & 4 hours on Wednesday

NEW HOURLY RATE: $18/hr

The Crisis Program is dedicated to providing a secure 24-hour environment for children from birth to 17 years old, implementing intervention strategies to promptly address crises by offering emergency shelter, nourishment, clothing, educational support, conflict resolution, emergency medical care, and counseling services aimed at preventing child abuse and neglect. This program is structured to assist parents and referral sources in alleviating parental stress, enhancing family communication skills, and averting future crises.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise clients consistently to ensure their basic needs are met
  • Assist clients in completing daily tasks, activities, and life skills
  • Exemplify positive behavior and effective problem-solving techniques
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment
  • Adhere to individualized treatment plans to enhance treatment outcomes
  • Trained in Safe Crisis Management (SCM)
  • Utilize case management software for incident reports, case notes, and essential documentation
  • Ensure all documentation is finalized before the end of each shift, including after-hours intake and discharge procedures
  • Participate in staff meetings to devise strategies addressing problem areas tailored to individual client needs
  • Maintain client files in accordance with standards and policies
  • Uphold confidentiality and HIPAA standards for all assigned clients and families
  • Complete all mandatory training, including hours required by the professional licensure board
  • When necessary, transport children to and from placements, appointments, activities, and visits using company vehicles
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field preferred
  • Two years of experience in working with clients facing emotional, behavioral, or developmental challenges
  • Basic computer skills for electronic documentation
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Current automobile insurance for client transportation
  • Willingness to obtain a Class E Driver's License within 30 days of hire
  • Ability and willingness to work weekdays and weekends
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Competency-Based Qualifications:

Ability to effectively assess and work with youth experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. Demonstrated patience and understanding towards children, with a sensitivity to their emotional needs. Capability to comprehend and implement treatment and behavioral plans for youth with emotional and behavioral disorders.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The Youth Support Specialist will primarily engage in sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods, as well as operating a computer. This role necessitates effective communication. Physical requirements include: sitting, standing, walking; lifting up to 100 lbs, and occasional pulling and/or pushing. The Youth Support Specialist must also be proficient in all Safe Crisis Management (SCM) certified physical intervention techniques for crisis intervention and annual certification.
