About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our Applied Science Practice at Thornton Tomasetti. As a Senior Computational Mechanics Engineer, you will be responsible for performing advanced analysis and research using finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling and simulation to address various problems in transportation, civil, and defense infrastructure, naval structures, and fluid-structure interaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform FEA and/or CFD modeling and simulation to analyze complex structures under extreme loads, impact, air/water explosions, and thermal loads.
  • Characterize non-linear materials and develop reduced order models.
  • Develop engineering and scientific software in Python, C++, or Fortran.
  • Research and interpret pertinent research, tests, codes, and standards.
  • Document the design, development, and/or analysis process in engineering presentations, reports, and drawings.
  • Communicate findings to project teams and/or clients.
Requirements
  • PhD or MS in Engineering (or related fields) degree within the last 24 months.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computational mechanics (CFD and/or FEA).
  • Working knowledge of Python, MATLAB, FORTRAN, or C++ programming.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • A collaborative work approach in a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and business professionals is essential.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance is a plus.
