About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Government Affairs Specialist to join our team at American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA). As a key member of our government relations team, you will play a critical role in advancing our industry's interests and promoting sustainable practices in the forest products sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Advocacy Strategies: Collaborate with our team to develop and implement effective advocacy strategies to achieve our industry's policy positions.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key congressional members and staff, as well as other stakeholders in the industry.
  • Monitor and Analyze Legislative and Regulatory Initiatives: Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory initiatives that impact our industry, and develop strategies to address any potential threats or opportunities.
  • Represent AF&PA: Represent AF&PA to outside audiences, organizations, and strategic alliances through meetings and other events.
  • Manage Policy Committees: Manage policy committees for the industry, including developing and implementing budgets, running meetings, and coordinating member input on key issues.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as public policy, government relations, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in government relations, lobbying, or a related field.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective advocacy strategies.

  • Competitive Salary: A competitive salary range of $82,000-$102,000, based on experience and qualifications.
