Position Overview:

The Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for promoting, selling, and enhancing GFL Environmental, Inc.'s commercial and industrial waste management services within the designated area. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, nurturing existing client relationships, and devising strategies to outperform competitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively seek new business from both current and potential clients to expand the commercial customer base.
  • Foster strong customer relationships by traveling within the assigned region to meet with clients and assess their needs.
  • Maintain and manage a database of prospective clients for sales leads through various outreach methods.
  • Explore new and existing market segments to boost sales and increase market presence.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of branch and regional profit and loss dynamics, including pricing strategies and service costs.
  • Develop expertise in solid waste management equipment, pricing, and applications, including roll-off truck presentations and commercial container placements.
  • Provide potential clients with pricing quotes and credit terms, and prepare sales agreements.
  • Exhibit proficiency in customer needs analysis and retention strategies, focusing on major industrial requirements.
  • Prepare and organize impactful sales presentations for major accounts, highlighting key product features and benefits.
  • Stay informed about competitor activities and market trends.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing pricing strategies for commercial accounts.
  • Conduct waste stream analyses to estimate volumes and identify recyclable materials.
  • Engage in business-related meetings and community events to enhance the company's visibility.
  • Act as a liaison for large clients, including municipal and governmental sectors, during the bidding process.
  • Support the identification and acquisition of potential business opportunities.
  • Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Experience in the municipal and industrial waste management sector is advantageous.
  • Two to three years of sales experience with a solid understanding of sales techniques and a proven track record of closing deals.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret business documents and regulations.
  • Proficient in writing reports and business correspondence.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information and addressing inquiries from various stakeholders.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculating figures and amounts.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities tailored to customer needs.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions effectively.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Visual acuity for close and distant vision tasks.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
