Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Teller to join our team at Trustco Bank. As a Teller, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, accurately and efficiently completing customer transactions, and maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accept and process customer deposits, verifying cash and endorsements, and issuing receipts.
  • Cash checks and process credit card payments.
  • Provide cross-selling opportunities for the Bank's products and services.
  • Issue money orders and bank checks.
  • Accept loan payments and process night deposit bags.
  • Admit customers to safe deposit boxes and answer customer inquiries.
  • Balance transactions at the end of the day and verify cash totals.
  • Balance Automated Teller Machines and maintain reports and logs for record retention.
  • Continuously build proficiency in banking principles and sales techniques through internal and external training and continuing education courses.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education or experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work well in small groups.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous banking experience.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with scheduled work hours around the branch's operating hours. Employees will be required to arrive 30 minutes prior to the opening of the branch and work 15-30 minutes after the closing of the branch. Occasional travel may be required.

Language Skills

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Bilingual skills are a plus.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift 10 to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have dexterity to handle money.
  • Must use hands to operate office machines.
  • Ability to communicate both in person and/or by telephone.
