Position: Environmental Planning Associate

Role Summary: The State Mitigation Planning Unit plays a crucial role in supporting the strategic objectives of Cal OES through the development and execution of mitigation-oriented plans. This unit oversees the Enhanced State Hazard Mitigation Plan, which serves as a blueprint for the State's long-term strategies in hazard mitigation, climate adaptation, and enhancing resilience in underserved communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Program Manager I, you will engage in sophisticated urban and environmental planning initiatives related to mitigation strategies.
  • Provide support for various mitigation planning, outreach, and implementation projects, focusing on enhancing resilience across California, particularly in vulnerable communities.
  • Conduct in-depth research, analysis, and reporting on scientific and policy matters related to mitigation planning.
  • Critically assess planning efforts and develop comprehensive reports and proposals for improvement.
  • Travel across the State may be required to perform field assessments and environmental evaluations.

Work Environment: This position allows for a hybrid work schedule, including remote work options, depending on operational needs.
