Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Operations Assistant to join our team at PrimeSource Building Products. As a key member of our warehouse operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of our facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Picking and Palletizing: Pick up and place on a pallet 560 pieces (or cartons) over an eight hour period weighing on average 40-50 lbs.
  • Load Reporting and Assignment: Print Load Reports and assign to warehouse staff.
  • Driver Support: Process driver's paperwork and ensure it's filled out complete and filed daily.
  • Order Verification: Assist in double checking all orders.
  • Freight Coordination: Coordinate outbound and inbound freight by taking appointment, calling carriers to pick up loads, and ensuring all product ships ASAP.
  • Communication: Communicate with office sales personnel on shipping issues, problems, light trucks, and orders that will not ship.
  • Order Fulfillment: Assist in pulling and receiving orders when needed.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in stocking when needed.
  • Warehouse Organization: Assist in warehouse re-organization of aisles when needed.
  • Process Improvement: Assist in looking for more efficient ways of daily functions.
  • DOT Maintenance: Maintain DOT maintenance on trucks and trailers and coordinate with drivers and vendors on issues.
  • Driver Compliance: Maintain Drivers Med Cards & Licenses.
  • Cycle Counts: Perform Cycle counts as instructed.
  • Delivery Documentation: Print Delivery tickets / Driver Trip Sheets.
  • Expense Management: Assist in finding quotes for basic warehouse expenses as well as special needs.
  • Operations Support: Cover for Operations Manager when he is out.
  • Will Call Orders: Responsible for coordinating will call orders in a safe and service-friendly manner.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Responsible for the maintaining and caring for company-owned or leased equipment.
  • Warehouse Standards: Accountable and responsible for high standards of warehouse cleanliness and organization.
Attendance and Punctuality
  • Consistency: Is consistently at work and on time.
  • Responsibility: Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.
  • Meeting Attendance: Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.
Work Location

This work is critical to be conducted at the assigned facility, with remote work not practical.

Skills and Abilities
  • Education: Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Required Skills:
    • Reaching for box from the ground, raising to waist height, 50lbs, at a minimum rate of 70 times an hour.
    • Reaching for box from shoulder height, lowering to waist height, 50lbs, at a minimum of 70 times an hour.
    • Truncated movement from left to right picking up box and lowering again, 50lbs, at a minimum of 70 times an hour.
    • Truncated movement from right to left picking up box and lowering again, 50lbs, at a minimum of 70 times an hour.
  • Certifications and Licenses: None
Work Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Constant sitting, reaching outward, grasping, and speaking. Frequent standing, walking, and manually manipulating.
  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment would be considered normal for warehousing operations.
  • Schedule: M-F Various shifts starting from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm Overtime- Occasionally Mandatory
