Job Summary

The classification of Airport Services Manager includes overseeing and coordinating airport activities for both Ramp Services and Passenger Service functions. This position involves managing, directing, and controlling airport operations, monitoring work performance, and ensuring compliance with company rules and regulations. The Airport Services Manager is responsible for communicating with airport officials and customers, monitoring employee performance, and ensuring customer satisfaction, safety, security, quality, and employee relations meet or exceed standards.

Ramp Service Functions

The Airport Services Manager is responsible for the following functions:

  • Loading and unloading of cargo, including mail, express, baggage, freight, and company material, on and off aircraft.
  • Transporting cargo between terminals and aircraft.
  • Ramp transfers of cargo where required.
  • Receiving, delivering, and physically handling freight and company material.
  • Completing forms and messages related to cargo handling.
  • Cleaning and servicing cabin interiors, including cockpits and lavatories.
  • Draining lavatories.
  • Checking, handling, assembling, removing, and installing passenger service cabin furnishings and supplies.
  • Transporting furnishings and supplies to and from aircraft.
  • Assisting in loading, unloading, and racking drums.
  • De-icing aircraft, cleaning windshields, pushing out/towing aircraft, and related guide man functions.
  • Connecting and removing ground power and ground start units.

Responsibilities

The Airport Services Manager is responsible for the following:

  • Performing all aspects of airport operations, including ticketing transactions, baggage check-in, issuing boarding passes, and dispatching flights in a safe and timely manner.
  • Coordinating with all departments to ensure operational needs are met, including catering, fueling, and maintenance companies.
  • Acting as a company representative when assigned.
  • Reporting to work on a regular and timely basis.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, percent, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Minimum Requirements

The Airport Services Manager must have:

  • An Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and days off.

Preferred Skills

The Airport Services Manager should have:

  • Ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand the English language.
  • Cognitive skills to set priorities and use independent judgment.
  • Ability to handle stress and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

The Airport Services Manager must be able to:

  • Lift up to 70 lbs.
