GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Spiritual Care Associate plays a vital role in enhancing the efforts of Bryan's Chaplain team by evaluating and addressing the spiritual requirements of patients, their families, and staff as designated. This position's ministry embodies suitable age-specific and cognitive comprehension levels of individuals, offering support to patients and families through brief counseling techniques, especially during times of spiritual turmoil caused by serious or transformative medical conditions, procedures, or occurrences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. *Upholds the mission, vision, and values of the organization while consistently demonstrating our core principles.

2. *Delivers effective crisis and trauma intervention pastoral care services to patients and their families.

3. *Responds to emergency situations as per facility protocols when present.

4. *Facilitates communication and serves as a liaison between healthcare staff and the family or friends of patients during critical situations, such as severe illness or loss.

5. *Engages in the Chaplain's on-call rotation as assigned.

6. *Maintains accurate records of pastoral care activities in patient medical documentation.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

A Master's of Divinity or equivalent is required. Completion of one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at the time of hire or completion of one unit of CPE within two years of hire under a supervisor recognized by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), or Canadian Association of Pastoral Education (CAPE) is preferred. A minimum of two (2) years of ministry experience is required. Ordination, endorsement, or licensure from a recognized faith community is preferred.
