Job Summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Peer Recovery Coach II to join our team at MedStar Health Franklin Square Hospital. As a certified Peer Recovery Specialist, you will provide non-clinical services to aid patients in establishing recovery from high-risk alcohol and drug use problems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide peer support throughout hospitalization and post-discharge to attain goals
  • Act as a resource to other clinical team members on recovery support
  • Assist patients and family in understanding community services and linking to substance treatment services
  • Complete required documentation and reports
  • Conduct brief interventions to patients who screen positive for alcohol and/or drug use
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Peer Recovery Specialist Certification by the State of Maryland or the District of Columbia
  • Related experience as a peer recovery coach
  • Must be actively engaged in their own recovery program with a minimum of three years demonstrated personal recovery and sustained abstinence from alcohol and/or drug use
