Job Description

Seventy Times Seven is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Recovery Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Recovery Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in their recovery journey.

  • Identify and address obstacles to accessing services and supports, working collaboratively with participants and their Individual Recovery Management Team.
  • Ensure that all individuals have a clear understanding of their discharge plans.
  • Provide support to implement discharge plans, ensuring that necessary resources are in place.
  • Connect individuals with mutual self-help groups, promoting a sense of community and support.
  • Offer peer support to empower individuals to have their voices heard and their needs met.
  • Support peers in identifying their needs for professional services and communicating those needs to clinical staff.
  • Transport individuals to referral sources or safe environments, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Coach individuals on independent use of community resources, promoting self-sufficiency.
  • Maintain contact with individuals through phone and/or email, providing ongoing support and re-engagement as needed.
  • Provide recovery education to service clients, addressing every phase of the recovery journey.
  • Develop relationships with community groups and agencies, promoting partnerships and collaboration.
  • Complete documentation, reports, and data capture in accordance with Residential Housing processes.
  • Refer individuals to community services as necessary, documenting referrals and outcomes.

Requirements

  • A personal belief in recovery and the ability to promote it.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, and the general public.
  • High energy level, flexibility, interpersonal skills, and ability to function as a team member.
  • Ability to engage individuals based on their unique needs and circumstances.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professional boundaries and respect individuals' autonomy.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions, as well as read, understand, and speak English.
  • Valid driver's license required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Maryland Peer Certification required.
  • CPR/AED and de-escalation skills necessary.
  • Pre-employment drug screen required.
  • Connecticut Community for Recovery (CCAR) Training required.

Software Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to use MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and learn in-house software.
