National Security Education Program Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Director to launch and lead our National Security Education Program, focusing on the influence of foreign actors on America's education system.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Foundation for Defense of Democracies as a key member of our team. As a director, you will be responsible for conducting original research on national security vulnerabilities in education, publishing findings, and presenting research at various events and media platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research on national security threats in education, including legislative and regulatory processes, foreign funding streams, and outside influences.
- Publish research in internal and external publications, such as newspapers, journals, and online outlets.
- Present research findings at FDD events and external venues, as well as on TV and radio news programs.
- Serve as a resource for policy professionals and journalists, providing expert analysis and research.
- Expand the reach of program research to target audiences.
- Testify before Congress and other government bodies on research findings when invited.
- Collaborate with FDD programs and fellows to integrate education research into their work.
- Develop and manage strategic partnerships.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant field; doctorate preferred.
- At least 8 years of experience in a related field.
- In-depth understanding of American foreign policy.
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Able to define objectives and execute research plans.
- Background in education, with public or private sector experience preferred.
- Management experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote or office-based team.
Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $180,000 per year
