We are a leading provider of cyber security solutions to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) Senior, you will be responsible for designing and implementing secure IT systems that meet the needs of our customers.

Job Summary

This role requires a highly skilled individual with extensive experience in security engineering, network architecture, and system administration. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in developing and implementing secure IT systems, as well as a strong understanding of industry best practices and standards.

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $140,000 per year, based on national averages for similar positions in the United States. This figure takes into account the required skills and qualifications, as well as the location of the job in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement secure IT systems, including networks, servers, and applications
  • Conduct comprehensive security assessments and penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Configure and manage security appliances, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security technologies
  • Develop and maintain secure network architectures and system configurations
  • Work with system owners and developers to integrate security controls into system development and implementation processes
  • Mentor and guide junior ISSO staff, fostering professional development
Requirements
  • 12+ years of direct experience serving as an ISSE within the DoD/Federal Government
  • Proven track record of success in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure IT systems
  • In-depth understanding of information security principles and best practices, including network security, cryptography, system security, vulnerability management, and incident response
  • Expertise in security assessment methodologies and penetration testing tools
  • Proficiency in security technologies and protocols, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, encryption, and security information and event management (SIEM) systems
  • Experience with relevant security frameworks and standards, such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, FISMA, RMF, and DHS supplemental IA controls and security policies
  • Bachelor's degree and/or CRISC, GISP, CASP, CISSP, or other advanced security-related certifications
