Job Overview

The Engineer III - Infrastructure & Warehouse Management Systems is a critical role within our organization, responsible for executing the strategy set by architecture. This individual will design, build, test, implement, maintain, and optimize the infrastructure and operations, ensuring alignment with security policies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in short- and long-term planning efforts with stakeholders and IT groups.
  • Provide project cost/time estimates.
  • Identify and communicate how IT infrastructure solutions can support the achievement of short- and long-range business goals.
  • Support the prioritization of requirements and help match resources with requirements.
  • Work with analysts, architecture, and stakeholders to understand business needs.
  • Lead the evaluation of technical requirements for projects to determine the impact to the infrastructure, including equipment redundancy and capacity requirements.
  • Ensure completeness of technical requirements and functional architecture analysis for the design and implementation of system business solutions.
  • Identify requirements gaps or issues.
  • Determine systems specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Ensure proper communication/review of requirements and integration for impacted areas.
  • Ensure designs comply with organization's standards.
  • Determine requirements impact on existing architecture, work processes, and systems.
  • Evaluate technical requirements for projects to determine the impact to infrastructure/applications, including equipment redundancy and capacity requirements.
  • Determine technical requirements' impact on existing architecture, work processes, systems, and ongoing support.
  • Explain to non-SMEs how the proposed solution will support their requirements.
  • Assist in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology.
  • Lead the architecture, design, development, and test of technical solutions or infrastructure solutions to meet business requirements and functional specifications.
  • Ensure the integration of business requirements into the development process.
  • Coordinate development activities with other groups.
  • Provide technical consulting on the integration of application systems.
  • Participate in technical design review of applicable projects.
  • Develop custom integration solutions, including major enhancements, interfaces, functions, and features.
  • Explain to non-SMEs how the proposed solution will support their requirements.
  • Ensure infrastructure solutions are aligned to the business strategy and direction.
  • Assist in the business process redesign and documentation as needed for new technology.
  • Maintain existing capabilities, making recommendations and implementing appropriate up-to-date security technologies.
  • Ensure the integrity of host computers, multiple databases, and secure data transfer.
  • Lead or provide technical direction for the planning, designing, and execution of testing efforts.
  • Ensure that tests evaluate all possible impacts on the current infrastructure.
  • Escalate problems as needed.
  • Coordinate and lead the build and deployment and review of new, modified, or enhanced infrastructure components or services.
  • Ensure all support documentation knowledge transfer to production support.
  • Verify the functionality of components and services and ensure deployment meets client's expectations.
  • May perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Establish requirements, methods, and procedures for routine maintenance.
  • Ensure performance meets the present and future needs of the business.
  • Forecast utilization patterns and identify modifications or upgrades.
  • Recommend changes/enhancements for improved systems availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain metrics around the system and institute a process for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct reviews periodically with users and vendors.
  • Define and ensure continuous monitoring procedures are set according to standard procedures and requirements.
  • Create a plan to evolve the system to reduce cost and improve system dynamics.
  • Perform or coordinate Level 3/4 incident assessment and resolution on infrastructure solutions.
  • Coordinate problem management and resolution among a variety of functional areas and provide subject matter expertise support for diagnosing and resolving problems.
  • Provide guidance to other team members.
  • Recommend procedures and controls for problem resolution or create temporary solutions until permanent solutions can be implemented.
Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Provide ongoing functional and system support, acting as first-level support (Tier 1) for DC Supervisors and Management.
  • Ensure that the WMS is configured and is operating in adherence with corporate principles and local business requirements.
  • Responsible for set-up and utilization of system enhancements, functionality, reports/queries, and processes.
  • Collaborate with the IT-Supply Chain Solutions team regarding infrastructure and WMS.
  • Provide on-going leadership and training to DC management on proper work processes and functionality.
  • Manage Change Control log and SOX compliance for the WMS, and work with local business team for Validation.
  • Monitor inventory sync reports and investigate discrepancies for root causes.
  • Monitor key metrics and perform periodic audits of system configuration and operational processes. Develop and implement action plans for improving any unsatisfactory results.
  • Execute necessary WMS configurations and functionality to manage physical inventories, working with the local business.
  • Assume leadership and ownership of assigned issues and tasks through completion.
  • Conduct WSO system, enhancement, and business scenario testing as required.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve WSO application/technical issues.
  • Act as liaison between local management and other parties involved in the WMS and IT applications, including IT/IBM, Manhattan Associates, SAP, other corporate teams, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for system or process improvement.
  • Provide input concerning needed/desired system functionality, processes, interfaces, and enhancements.
Experience and Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or technical institute degree/certificate in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically requires eight (8) or more years of relevant IT work experience.
  • Experience leading technical teams preferred.
  • Relevant certifications are preferred.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software products.
  • Strong experience with Unix-based systems and command-line interfaces.
  • Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure as code.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems.
  • Strong experience with warehouse management, SAP, building automation, and serialization management systems - highly preferred.
  • Experience with RDS/MySQL/database management preferred.
  • Experience with SAP and/or Manhattan Associates software (or similar systems).
  • Knowledge of networking concepts such as DNS, TCP/IP, and load balancing preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% (if needed).
