Position Summary
The Supplier Management Specialist role is pivotal in establishing and sustaining a dependable supply chain to meet the production and operational demands of the organization. This position entails the selection, assessment, and performance monitoring of suppliers. Additionally, the role involves the creation and maintenance of the company's approved supplier list in line with established procedures. A successful Supplier Management Specialist will leverage communication skills and contextual insights to address challenges within the Supplier Operations Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of potential suppliers to assess their eligibility for inclusion in the approved supplier list.
- Perform supplier audits and assessments to ensure adherence to company standards and industry regulations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to finalize source selections and procurements that align with program requirements (including schedule, cost, and quality); develop alternative sources as necessary.
- Regularly review and update supplier information, encompassing contact details and performance metrics.
- Work closely with procurement, supplier quality, and various departments to synchronize supplier management strategies with corporate objectives.
- Identify and communicate potential risks and issues effectively.
- Collect and analyze data for supplier performance evaluations.
- Engage in proactive communication with internal stakeholders to relay relevant order status updates.
- Assist in the formulation and execution of supplier project plans to fulfill program requirements and financial targets.
- Mentor internal customer groups on best practices through formal training, one-on-one sessions, screen sharing, or other effective methods to enhance understanding of supply chain processes.
- Clearly communicate supplier policies to stakeholders and promote compliance.
- Gather data to pinpoint areas of risk, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Organize and input supplier and part trade compliance data into the ERP system, including HTS, NAICS, and business size details.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to learn, implement, and comply with DFAR, FAR, and ITAR regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to draw logical conclusions from limited information.
- Excellent time management, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Self-directed with the ability to take constructive action in ambiguous situations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint ERP systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with FAR/DFAR regulations.
