Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Lease Records Analyst to join our team at Magnolia Oil & Gas. As a key member of our Land Administration department, you will be responsible for reviewing, setting up, and maintaining oil and gas leases and land contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lease Administration: Analyze and set up oil and gas leases, rights-of-way, unit designations, and other land agreements in our proprietary software system.
  • Agreement Maintenance: Maintain and update agreements per incoming amendments, releases, ratifications, and other changes.
  • Tract Management: Tract out and update agreements upon first production and monitor and update agreements according to the monthly Pay, Obligation, and Expiration calendars.
  • Payment and Obligation Analysis: Analyze payment and obligation provisions to calculate and set up minimum royalty payments, options to extend, delay rentals, water use, shut-in, and surface damage payments.
  • Ownership and Interest Management: Maintain agreements for current mineral and working interest ownership in conjunction with division order analysts and landmen.
  • BA Owner Creation: Create new BA owners in P2 for land check requests and new agreement setups.
  • Data Discrepancy Resolution: Identify and resolve data discrepancies in P2 Land and digital files.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with GIS, Accounting, Land, and IT groups as necessary for daily tasks and special projects, and respond to owner relations inquiries directly related to Lease Records.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Generate various land reports including those for ownership, acreage, provisions, and cross-referenced wells.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, majoring in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Energy Management, or equivalent land experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of Lease Records experience, with direct Land Administration experience in and knowledge of Texas.
  • Certifications: CPLTA certification is a plus.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in P2 Land, highly desired, and proficiency in ThoughtTrace, LandVantage systems, preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities: Good research, math, interpersonal communication, and written communication skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects timely to comply with contractual and statutory requirements.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Advanced Knowledge of Land: Lease, royalty, and joint interest partner concepts, laws and regulatory provisions related to oil and gas extraction, contract administration, monthly land calendar, understanding of tracts and depths, ownership and interest types, and chaining title to identify original leases for current deck owners.
  • Strong Knowledge of Oil and Gas Operations: Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail, strong computer skills, including MS Outlook, SharePoint, Word, and Excel, and competency in accurately entering data into integrated Land software systems.
  • Excellent Communication and Time Management Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to uphold relationships with various organizations across the company and outside agencies, and excellent time management skills with the ability to determine priorities in alignment with the business needs.
