About the Role

USAA is seeking a dedicated Manager, Life/Health/Retirement Income to join the Life Company Retirement Income Team. As a Manager, Life/Health/Retirement Income, you will be responsible for managing a team of specialists dedicated to knowing our members, understanding their Health, Life or Retirement income needs, and providing appropriate solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Motivate staff toward the attainment of goals and develop employees through regular coaching and feedback that leads to improved results.
  • Execute process improvements and lead organizational process changes. Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Build and oversee a team through recruiting, developing, retaining, coaching, guiding, performance management and managerial activities.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness in Life, Health or Retirement Income.
  • Implement and monitor processes and performance standards for Life, Health or Retirement Income.
  • Achieve optimal productivity through managing workload volumes, staffing, training needs, and identifying and implementing appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the competitive landscape, financial services industry trends, changes in technology, regulations, and/or other industry events that may impact operational functions and processes, and effectively communicate this knowledge to others within Health, Life or Retirement Income.
  • In conjunction and coordination with Securities Counsel and Securities Compliance, provide research and documentation support for use in responding to regulatory authority inquiries and audits.
  • Respond to executive complaints as necessary.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • May be required to have the ability to obtain Life/Health license and any required Carrier appointments within 90 days of job entry.
  • Required maintenance of FINRA Series 7, 66 (or 63 and 65), 24, and 51 (or 53), and/or attainment within 90 days of job entry.
  • 6 or more years of related experience in financial services operations to include process improvement.
  • 2 or more years direct team lead or management experience providing coaching, development and/or leadership in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial products and services relevant to life or health insurance or retirement income.
Preferred Qualifications
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
  • Current Life and Health (Group 1) license.
  • CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP) designation.
  • RICP (Retirement Income Certified Professional) Designation.
  • 3 or more years of direct management experience within a financial service industry.
  • 1 or more years of working experience with Life, Health, or retirement income products.
  • Experience working/managing in a call center environment.
