POSITION OVERVIEW

Cascade Public Media is dedicated to enriching our community through impactful storytelling and media production. Our goal is to be a vital and influential media entity in the region.

The Creative Video Producer will collaborate closely with the Director of Original Productions, Production Manager, Technical Production Manager, and other video creators to conceptualize and capture engaging video content in both field and studio settings.

This role requires a blend of artistic vision and technical skill to enhance our narrative-driven projects, broaden our audience reach, and amplify our community engagement while upholding Cascade Public Media's core values of integrity, community, innovation, and diversity.

Hourly Rate: $32.69

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
  • Set up and operate various types of cameras, video recorders, audio equipment, and lighting in both field and studio environments.
  • Ensure that all equipment is functional, accessible, and ready for shoots.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of video, audio, and lighting gear.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Original Productions and lead producer to develop shot lists and production plans.
  • Oversee all technical aspects of filming, including lighting, audio, and camera operation.
  • Assess equipment performance, report any technical issues to the Technical Production Manager, and suggest upgrades as necessary.
  • Assist Producers during field production activities.
  • Interpret the vision of the Director of Original Productions and lead producer, executing it in the field by capturing essential audio and visuals.
  • Possibly perform light editing of footage during post-production.
  • Create and archive master copies of video content.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to cultivate a positive and productive work environment, contributing to the overall growth of Cascade Public Media.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may evolve or be assigned as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Experience in documentary-style storytelling is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrates innovative and unconventional approaches to storytelling.
  • Ability to identify compelling narratives while filming and enhance the story through visual and audio techniques.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to navigate production challenges.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing time, materials, and information efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • BA Degree in Communications, Media Production, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience operating cameras in field and studio settings.
  • Advanced proficiency in professional non-linear editing software, with a preference for AVID Media Composer and Adobe Premiere.
  • Drone Operator license/certification is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to view data on a computer screen for extended periods.
  • Ability to type on a keyboard for long durations.
  • Ability to hear and distinguish colors.
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds of equipment unassisted.
  • A valid driver's license or reliable transportation is required.
