(HBC), a subsidiary of Schurz Communications, is a leading provider of telecommunications services in the southeastern Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin regions. With a dedicated team of approximately 100 employees, HBC is committed to delivering exceptional fiber and wireless broadband services to rural and underserved communities. We are in search of a dynamic Chief Executive Officer & General Manager to spearhead our operations.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for formulating and executing the go-to-market strategy while ensuring excellence in customer service, engineering and operations, sales, marketing, financial oversight, and community relations. This role demands a visionary leader who can inspire a high-performing team to achieve outstanding customer satisfaction and drive financial and operational success in our expanding service areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership in employee relations, focusing on recruitment, coaching, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Design and implement business strategies and operational plans to fulfill HBC's service objectives and financial targets.
  • Oversee local operations to ensure efficiency, profitability, and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, building strong relationships with community leaders, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Champion a customer-focused culture that prioritizes exceptional service and satisfaction.
  • Drive revenue growth through innovative sales strategies, marketing initiatives, and incentive programs.
  • Identify and pursue new business development opportunities aligned with market trends and community needs.
  • Support the introduction of innovative product solutions to enhance average revenue per user (ARPU).
  • Lead the budgeting process and ensure alignment with financial performance objectives.
  • Manage costs effectively to maximize profitability.
  • Ensure timely and on-budget delivery of new technology and fiber investments.
  • Deliver high-quality products and services, consistently achieving high Net Promoter Scores (NPS).
  • Enhance operational processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor operational performance and make necessary adjustments to achieve optimal results.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, or a business-related field; an MBA or advanced degree is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in sales, marketing, or engineering operations within the fiber or cloud service technology sectors.
  • Prior experience in a General Manager role or similar position with a focus on P&L management and operational excellence.
  • Proven ability to foster community, customer, and employee relations.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong financial acumen and data-driven strategic thinking.
  • Willingness to reside within close proximity to the HBC service area.
