Team Members assist in customer service, stocking, and sanitation tasks within their assigned departments. All positions require a commitment to maintaining a positive company image by delivering courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and fellow Team Members at all times. Each role must adhere to team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Team Members should be prepared to perform duties associated with various job descriptions. All positions are expected to support Whole Foods Market's core values and objectives, promote national, regional, and store initiatives, and comply with all relevant health and safety regulations.
Desired Experience: No prior retail experience is necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Perform opening, mid, and closing tasks as assigned.
- Follow department protocols for preparing, storing, rotating, and stocking products.
- Prepare, package, weigh, and price items for sale.
- Monitor product quality and freshness, ensuring proper rotation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of cases and shelves.
- Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep logs as necessary.
- Assist with periodic inventory assessments.
- Arrive at work on time, well-groomed, dressed appropriately, and ready to perform assigned shifts and attend required training sessions.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, addressing customer needs promptly and effectively while modeling suggestive selling techniques; respond to phone calls and pages in a timely and courteous manner.
- Maximize sales potential through effective product preparation, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising practices.
- Adhere to established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; ensure equipment is kept in accordance with Whole Foods Market cleanliness and safety standards.
- Ensure accuracy of signage and pricing.
- Promptly report safety hazards and violations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to acquire basic knowledge of all products in the department.
- Ability to visually assess products for quality and freshness.
- Proactively read labels and familiarize oneself with various products.
- Strong to excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate as part of a team.
- Ability to convey information clearly and respectfully to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors.
- Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions.
- Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- In an 8-hour workday: standing/walking for 6-8 hours.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
- Work involves bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
- Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals.
- Exposure to varying temperatures: below 32 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerated), and above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Ability to work in wet and/or cold environments.
Team Members who successfully complete their first 90 days of employment and remain actively employed in an eligible role may qualify for a base rate increase after their 90-day anniversary.
