Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Resident Engineer to join our Transportation Business Line in Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing transit and rail construction projects and will be responsible for providing technical direction and guidance to staff and subordinate engineers/inspectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides technical direction and guidance to staff and subordinate engineers/inspectors
  • Enforces company and project policies, maintains close client interface, and ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule
  • Supervises field staff, coordinates field activities, and provides project progress reports to the Client and AECOM Department Manager
  • Prepares and manages quality and safety plans for the project
  • Works with the Department Manager on development and execution of significant project pursuits and delivery
  • Assists the Department Manager to formulate and execute project opportunity capture strategies, including teaming and positioning for major pursuits, helping in proposal efforts and identification of required staff resources to win and effectively deliver projects
  • Establishes relationships with external clients and customers, including industry associations and other potential consultant team members and construction contractors
  • Be a visible leader and trusted advisor to clients by promoting AECOM's values both internally and externally
Qualifications:
  • BA/BS + 8 years of related experience or AA/AS (US) + 10 years of related experience or Diploma/Certificate (Canada) + 10 years of related experience or HS/GED + 12 years of related experience
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
    • Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois is preferred.
    • 10 + years of resident engineering experience managing transit/rail construction projects
    • Experience in client prepositioning activities, team (internal and external partners) and proposal development
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
