Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Specification/Quality Assurance Engineer IV to join our team at the Chicago Transit Authority. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for developing and revising specifications for materials, goods, and services required for our daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and revise specifications for materials, goods, and services based on existing engineering standards.
  • Prepare, review, and revise engineering drawings.
  • Work with users and other departments to develop supporting documentation for specifications.
  • Serve as a liaison with various departments to coordinate specification compliance and procurement activities.
  • Support the Quality Inspection Group to ensure vendor compliance to specifications during procurement.
  • Develop and revise specifications for Capital Construction projects.
  • Work with users and other departments to develop supporting documentation for specifications.
  • Develop and revise construction design criteria in coordination with engineering disciplines' requirements and standards.
  • Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures in accordance with Infrastructure Division requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related area, plus four (4) years of technical engineering experience.
  • Valid State of Illinois Driver's License.
  • AutoCAD experience preferred.
  • Current Rail Safety Training certification.
Working Conditions

Usual office working conditions, with occasional work in terminals, shops, garages, and field locations. Exposure to rail vehicle maintenance shop hazards and conditions, including vehicular noise, dust, grease, moving vehicles, electrified apparatus, or machinery.
