Role Overview

Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Resident Engineer to join our team in Chicago. As a key member of our construction management team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Senior Resident Engineer in overseeing construction projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, adhere to specifications, and stay within budget and timeline constraints.
  • Chair meetings with contractors, facility personnel, design consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting minutes, ensuring that all relevant information is captured and shared.
  • Verify that required material inspection and testing is performed and documented, and maintain accurate records of inspection results.
  • Generate correspondence between the owner and the General Contractor, ensuring that all contractual requirements are met.
  • Monitor contractor progress against approved construction schedules, identifying and addressing any deviations or issues.
  • Review and process change orders, ensuring that all necessary approvals are obtained and that changes are properly documented.
  • Review and approve contractor pay applications, ensuring that all payments are accurate and compliant with contractual requirements.
  • Ensure that manuals and booklets required by contract documents are collected from the contractor and properly maintained.
  • Assist with final project close-out, gathering all necessary documents, reports, and photos for official submission.
Requirements
  • Preferably an EIT with a strong ambition to become a PE, holding a bachelor's degree in engineering and demonstrating dedication to gaining the required experience for licensure.
  • Minimum of 3 or more years' experience in construction management, with a focus on transit and rail projects.
  • Proven experience with construction management software, such as Primavera P6 or Bluebeam Revu.
