Residential Program Lead

Bethany Christian Services is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Lead Youth Specialist to join our Residential Program team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and supervision to residents, while also directing and mentoring other Youth Specialists/Counselors on shift.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise, lead, and direct Youth Counselors on shift to ensure the highest level of care and support for residents.
- Administer medication in accordance with established protocols and document distributions and refusals.
- Oversee and maintain accurate documentation of daily staff log processes.
- Participate in assigned activities and encourage positive interactions and growth among residents.
- Complete SIRS and Unusual Incident reports in a timely manner as needed.
- Attend bi-monthly meetings with supervisor to discuss job performance, issues, or concerns.
- Follow treatment guidelines by intervening in a caring and consistent manner when necessary.
- Promptly conduct nonviolent crisis prevention intervention (CPI) procedures when required.
- Oversee residents' daily routines, including meal times, study times, outings, bedtime, assigned jobs, and other residential activities.
- Serve as a residential advocate by presenting social history at staff meetings and reviewing criminal, legal, psychological, school, and family histories.
- Provide residential advocacy at staff meetings by updating the team on current levels, length of stay, goal attainment percentages, school progress reports, and other relevant information.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services or equivalent field of study from an accredited college.
- Minimum of one year of child welfare experience working with children and/or adolescents.
- Prior experience working with individuals in a residential living setting with behavioral disorders or trauma needs is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience managing others and/or a team is strongly preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to provide excellent and compassionate customer service.
- Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality.
- Reliability with time-sensitive deadlines and tasks.
- Demonstrated temperament to work and care for special needs youth who may have present sexual disorders in a residential setting.
- Ability to serve as a positive role model.
- Demonstrated ability to nurture and provide structure, support, and respect to others.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- Ability to pass required medical examinations and have the physical ability to fulfill essential job functions, including physical restraints of a resident.
- Successfully pass an annual TB test and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization.
- Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions.
- Documentation of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases or willingness to receive vaccination or seek an exemption.
- Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries.
- Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license and at least 3 years of driving experience to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany.
- Subscription to and integration of the agency's Statement of Faith and Mission Statement.
