Electronics Manufacturing Inspector Job Description

Lockheed Martin is seeking a highly skilled Electronics Manufacturing Inspector to join our team. As an Electronics Manufacturing Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of our electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect electronics and mechanical assemblies to ensure conformance to engineering drawings, specifications, and engineering data.
  • Perform visual inspections of processing and assembly operations, including registration, plating, mechanical operations, soldering, brazing, welding, swaging, wire wrap, lugging, splicing, routing, encapsulation, and final assembly.
  • Support hardware test setup and troubleshooting per test processes.
  • Verify manufacturing processes and test activities are properly performed as documented in Manufacturing Processes Standards.
  • Witness or perform manual hi-pot and continuity operations on wiring.
  • Inspect parts, assemblies, and materials for the results or effect of processes or operations such as anodizing, painting, chromodizing, etching, passivating, dichromating, pickling, plating, degreasing, rust preventing, sandblasting, etc.
  • Check or examine solutions and equipment used for processing to determine chemical, mechanical, or electrical conformance with applicable specifications.
  • Generate non-conformance documentation for hardware when requirements are not met.
  • Stamp or otherwise approve acceptable items, reject unacceptable items, and prepare all necessary documentation.
  • Verify completion of Material Review Board (MRB) actions using nonconformance system.
Requirements:
  • Satisfactory performance as an Inspector, Electronics Manufacturing Processes - Trainee and demonstrated understanding of area systems, process, and quality policies.
  • Experience inspecting electronics and mechanical assemblies.
  • Knowledge of finish and processing methods and standards; metals and materials worked with; chemistry as applied to finishing and processing.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments; use shop mathematics; read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and engineering data.
Desired Skills:
  • Technical aptitude or experience in one or more of the following areas: fabrication or quality assurance of electronic CCA/PWB solder, Box/Module, Cable Harness or Acceptance Testing.
  • Prior experience with wire harness or electronics manufacturing.
  • Solder, bond, and coating certification.
  • Industry-related certifications such as NASA Hand Solder, J-STD, Hardware torque, Adhesive Bonding, Polymerics, Connector Mate & De-Mate, and NASA cable harness.
  • Capable of Multi-tasking in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Computer skills – Microsoft office.
  • SAP/ERP working knowledge.
  • Ability to work a flexible work week including flexible start time, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to lift and move 40 lbs unassisted.
  • Ability to climb scaffolding and ladders as required to make required inspections.
  • Normal or corrected vision is required. Applicant shall be able to pass visual acuity examination.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Manufacturing and/or testing experience – especially in product acceptance and non-conformance documentation.
