Job Summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a seasoned Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead our manufacturing engineering team in Sunnyvale, CA. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Improvement: Lead the team to monitor and improve manufacturing processes, increase efficiency, reduce product cost, and improve yields on all products.
  • Technical Oversight: Exhibit competent knowledge of all processes on the floor and provide technical oversight of direct reports' work.
  • Interface with Stakeholders: Interface with Process Area Managers, Operations Program Managers, and Programs on a daily basis to understand technical issues and prioritize efforts in supporting production.
  • Project Management: Administer and oversee technical program/project execution by managing scope, tasks/schedules/cost projections for all projects.
  • Team Management: Support career development, employee engagement, time approval, staffing, yearly reviews, and all other related activities for team members.
  • Design and Manufacturing: Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Process Improvement Activities: Oversee and help coordinate process improvement activities that reduce machining time and increase throughput.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Act as the main process area interface when investigating, identifying, and resolving discrepancies and performance issues when necessary.
  • Equipment and Facility Management: Support the identification and procurement of machining equipment, facility preparation/improvement, and preventative maintenance.
  • Safety and Quality: Support the identification of and improvement for product and process-specific safety issues.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9+ years of experience; Master's with a minimum of 7+ years of experience; PhD with a minimum of 4+ years of experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant work experience, including exposure to machining, welding, and assembly processes.
  • Project Management: 2+ years of technical project management experience.
  • Team Leadership: 2+ years of experience managing a team of 8+ members (direct or matrixed reports).
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance (US Citizenship).
Preferred Qualifications
  • STEM Discipline: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline.
  • Machining Experience: Experience with the development of machining processes for large rotational elements, gearing, and stationary components.
  • Cutting Tool Technology: Working knowledge of multi-axis machining center operation using conventional machining methods of metallic components (Milling, Turning, Boring, Hobbing, Grinding).
  • CAD/CAM Applications: Experience in CAD/CAM applications, including modeling complex assemblies and tools, generating tool paths, and implementing efficient and cost-effective solutions to machining of complex parts.
  • Facilities and Capital Planning: Experience in facilities and capital planning, resource and capacity planning, and control account management practices.
  • Assembly Practices: Familiarity with the capabilities and constraints of common assembly practices.
  • Specifications: Knowledge of Military, SAE, ASTM, and AGMA specifications.
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain Secret Clearance Classification.
Compensation

The salary range for this position is $125,500 - $188,300. Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, including the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
