About the Role

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a key member of our Avionics team, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and verifying high-performance avionics hardware systems for our reusable suborbital rocket system, New Shepard.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers to deliver Avionics hardware systems, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Design, develop, and verify high-performance avionics hardware for various flight vehicles, including electronic requirements, architecture concepts, detailed design, development, and test.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to drive requirements definition, modeling, analysis, design, test, and production release of on-vehicle launch, flight, and power management components and sub-systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Participate in flight support activities, ensuring the safe and successful operation of our vehicles.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in the design of complex hardware, with a strong understanding of EE principles.
  • Proven experience in circuit analysis and simulation, including worst-case circuit analysis, signal integrity analysis, and logic or P-Spice simulation.
  • Experience in grounding and general board layout principles, including EMI/EMC tradeoffs.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to earn trust and maintain positive relationships with team members and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related subject areas.
  • 8+ years of experience in design, development, integration, test, and operation of Avionics systems or vehicles.
  • Proven experience specifying and crafting high-reliability safety-critical electronics, familiarity with IPC-A-600/610, DO-254, and similar standards.
  • Background with launch vehicle hardware development, integration, and test.
  • Experience developing embedded software or firmware for 32-bit microcontrollers, DSPs, and FPGAs.
