Job Summary

We're seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer III to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our New Shepard program, you'll be responsible for designing and developing ruggedized electronic enclosures, assemblies, and installations for our reusable suborbital rocket system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical systems for avionics hardware and electrical subsystems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Conduct analysis and testing to ensure system reliability and performance
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, reports, and procedures
  • Participate in design and readiness reviews to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations
Requirements
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
  • 5+ years of experience designing high-reliability mechanical assemblies
  • Proven mechanical design skills using 3-D CAD software, such as Creo or SolidWorks
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering structural design and analysis methods
  • Proficiency with ANSYS Mechanical or equivalent finite element analysis applications
  • Competency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and familiarity with ASME Y14.5
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering field
  • 8+ years of experience designing high-reliability mechanical assemblies
  • Experience with PTC Creo 5.0 or equivalent, PTC Windchill PLM
  • Proven experience designing and building electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Experience with fatigue analysis and fracture mechanics
  • Experience with environmental testing, including vibration and shock
