At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As an Instrumentation Engineer III, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing the flight instrumentation for our lunar transportation systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop flight instrumentation and collaborate with design engineers to understand and document their instrumentation requirements and interfaces.
- Select, design, and test sensors for the fluids and propulsion integrated product team.
- Engage with instrumentation suppliers to develop the flight sensors and help create strategic relationships with them.
- Write specifications, verification plans, and system safety artifacts for flight sensors.
- Create mechanical and electrical drawings for sensor assemblies.
- Plan and execute sensor characterization, verification, and qualification test campaigns.
- Interact with internal and external partners to track instrumentation engineering development and ensure the release of installation drawings per schedule.
- B.S. degree or higher in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or other appropriate engineering or physics field.
- 5+ years of experience in design, test, and operation of transducers for the aerospace industry.
- Experience managing suppliers and projects from initial concept through production.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Knowledge of NADCAP processes (welding, soldering, brazing).
