About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our avionics development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for our rocket engines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop analog instrumentation measurement circuits for rocket engine environmental and combustion conditions.
  • Design and develop actuator circuits for solenoids and electromechanical servo systems.
  • Interpret systems engineering and quality requirements for electrical product development.
  • Develop circuits, boards, and rugged electronic hardware assemblies across the product life-cycle.
  • Support risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses, and root-cause analysis of test discrepancies.
  • Manage design schedules of avionics subsystems.
  • Routinely present program status and issues.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field with 7 years of professional experience, including 5+ years of direct experience in electronics hardware development.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership in guiding project teams, making critical design decisions, and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Direct hands-on experience with analog, digital circuit design, analysis, test, and debug.
  • Expert knowledge of Op-Amp circuits as applied to instrumentation measurements.
  • Knowledge of signal integrity, power, grounding, and general board layout principles.
  • Highly organized teammate with excellent technical skills.
  • Experience with data anomaly review and system troubleshooting in a lab or test environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in related engineering or technical field.
  • Expertise designing electronics in a space radiation environment.
  • Proven expertise crafting high-reliability, safety-critical, Class 3 board assemblies.
  • Understanding of mechanical packaging of avionics in harsh environmental conditions.
  • Knowledge of EMI issues related to precision analog or high voltage design.
