Job Summary:
The Toro Company is seeking a skilled Welder I to join our team in a manufacturing environment. As a Welder I, you will be responsible for welding components used to build Ditch Witch equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and other documents to ensure accurate welding.
- Set up and operate MIG welding equipment to weld machine components.
- Use hand and air tools, such as wrenches, torque wrenches, and screwdrivers, to assemble and disassemble equipment.
- Inspect and test weldments to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Use a computer to track inventory, record transactions, and manage part locations.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Appropriate MIG welding experience or completion of a formal welding training program.
- Pass a required entry-level plate test for production welding.
- Strong mechanical skills, including experience with hand and air-powered tools.
- Excellent reading, clerical, and basic math skills.
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing plant conditions, including variable temperature, humidity, noise, and dirt.
- Use of personal protective equipment, including a welding hood, gloves, and sleeves, safety glasses, face shields, and hearing protection.
- Physical hazards, such as powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, electrical arc-welding equipment, and materials handling.
- Working with hazardous materials, including solvents, oils, grease, and pressurized gases.
- A variable work schedule, including overtime paid after 40 hours per week, and some scheduled work on Saturdays.
Essential Physical Functions:
The physical demands for this job are classified as medium and include the following:
- Ability to handle items weighing over 60 pounds from floor to knuckle.
- Ability to handle pull or push items up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to handle items up to 35 pounds from knuckle to shoulder.
- Ability to handle items up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead.
- Frequent walking, twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
- Continuous walking.
- Occasional sitting and elevated work.
