About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Treatment Operator to join our team at American Water. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient treatment of water for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain water treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, and chemical feed systems.
  • Monitor and control the water treatment process to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Collect and test water samples to determine basic water quality parameters.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operation of the water treatment plant.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • VA DPOR class 1 water treatment license preferred or ability to obtain within department timeline.
Competencies
  • Strong understanding of water treatment processes and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
