Are you passionate about Water Quality and Environmental Compliance? This position may be the perfect fit for you as a Water Quality & Environmental Compliance Specialist.
Primary ResponsibilitiesAccountable for the collection of samples from treatment facilities or distribution systems, executing routine water quality assessments, managing sample custody, and maintaining accurate data records. Analyze water quality results and implement necessary chemical dosage adjustments in the treatment process. Oversee functions and activities related to environmental management and water quality for the designated facility. Address water quality complaints in the field and determine the necessary actions. Ensure compliance with all relevant lab certifications, accreditations, or approvals required for conducting compliance and quality control tasks. Facilitate the daily collection of water quality samples and implement programs to guarantee environmental compliance. Assist in resolving treatment-related issues.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct sampling and/or analysis as necessary to ensure adherence to federal and state water quality regulations and company-approved standards.
- Continuously assess water/wastewater treatment processes and recommend modifications to uphold or enhance water quality. Identify potential issues and initiate corrective actions to mitigate environmental violations.
- Monitor, calibrate, and troubleshoot analyzers and equipment to maintain established performance and accuracy standards.
- Execute special projects and prepare reports as required.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to foster strong relationships and resolve laboratory issues.
- Evaluate and oversee supplies and laboratory costs to assist in maintaining the lab budget.
- Assist in planning, preparation, and management of the financial plan related to responsibilities.
- Understanding of basic chemistry, laboratory techniques, and QA/QC programs.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and proficiency in Word, Excel, and Access.
- Knowledge of federal and state environmental standards and regulations, along with an understanding of current environmental legislation.
- Regulatory knowledge of appropriate lab analytical testing methods.
- Comprehension of water and/or wastewater treatment principles and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Valid state driver's license required with the ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
- Local and occasional regional travel may be required.
- Associates Degree preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience in water, wastewater, or environmental compliance.
- Laboratory, indoor/outdoor, and production/office settings.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Capability to lift 35 lbs. Stairs may be required.
- Must be able to distinguish colors for testing using standard colorimetric methods.
