Primary Responsibilities

Accountable for collecting samples from treatment facilities or distribution systems, conducting routine water quality analyses, ensuring sample custody, and maintaining accurate data records. Interpret water quality results and recommend adjustments to chemical dosing in treatment processes. Oversee functions and activities related to environmental management and water quality for the assigned facility. Investigate water quality concerns in the field and determine necessary actions. Ensure compliance with all relevant lab certifications, accreditations, or approvals for conducting quality control and compliance work. Manage the daily collection of water quality samples and implement programs to ensure environmental compliance. Assist in resolving treatment-related issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform sampling and/or analysis as required to ensure adherence to federal and state water quality regulations and company-approved standards.
  • Continuously assess water/wastewater treatment processes and suggest modifications to enhance or maintain water quality. Identify potential issues and initiate corrective actions to mitigate environmental violations.
  • Monitor, calibrate, and troubleshoot analyzers and equipment to ensure compliance with established performance and accuracy standards.
  • Conduct special projects and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to foster positive relationships and address laboratory issues.
  • Evaluate and manage supplies and laboratory costs to support budgetary goals.
  • Assist in planning and managing the financial aspects related to responsibilities.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Understanding of basic chemistry, laboratory techniques, and QA/QC programs.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Awareness of federal and state environmental standards and regulations, along with current environmental legislation.
  • Knowledge of proper lab analytical testing methods.
  • Comprehension of water and/or wastewater treatment principles and troubleshooting methodologies.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
Travel Requirements
  • Local and occasional regional travel may be required.
Experience and Education
  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience in water, wastewater, or environmental compliance.
Work Environment
  • Work will be conducted in laboratory, indoor/outdoor, and production/office settings.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. Stairs may be required.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors for testing purposes using standard colorimetric methods.
