Electrical Systems Engineer

Position Overview:
The Controls Automation Specialist will play a crucial role in the automation, design, development, engineering, enhancement, and validation of innovative projects related to a unique plastics-to-fuel technology.
Key Responsibilities:
This position involves applying engineering principles and project management skills, necessitating a solid grasp of process controls, instrumentation, electrical power distribution, networking, and computing systems.
Additionally, a foundational understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, materials science, and chemistry is essential, along with proficiency in tools such as computer-aided design and project management software.
The specialist will:
- Develop systems to ensure accurate specification of instruments and control system components.
- Conduct evaluations of existing process automation and designs.
- Assist in the design of new processes and equipment, providing recommendations for enhancements.
- Manage relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate the production of new systems.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including operators, technicians, process managers, and finance professionals, to conceptualize, implement, and monitor projects and improvements.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation, controls, networks, and electrical systems, suggesting and implementing enhancements.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure that all designs and installations are safe, maintainable, and compliant with relevant standards and regulations.
Major Responsibilities Include:
- Providing engineering support to enhance the reliability and efficiency of electrical equipment.
- Automating controls for novel chemical processing equipment.
- Maintaining and supporting control networks.
- Assisting with the startup and commissioning of new facilities.
- Conceptualizing improvements to existing designs.
- Leading root cause failure analysis for electrical equipment and developing standard practices.
- Identifying potential enhancements in equipment and processes within the plastics-to-fuels sector.
- Supporting asset maintenance and outage planning.
- Evaluating off-the-shelf and vendor solutions.
- Analyzing electrical equipment testing reports and providing recommendations.
- Managing projects within defined time and budget constraints.
- Preparing technical reports and delivering presentations.
- Mentoring and training team members.
Qualifications:
A degree in engineering or a related field, or extensive experience in controls within the Oil & Gas and chemicals industry or similar sectors is required. Candidates should have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in controls and automation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with troubleshooting electrical control systems, testing procedures, and methodologies.
Compensation:
Salary range is $120,000 - $140,000, commensurate with experience.
