BATTERY TECHNICIAN
General Overview:
2nd Shift - Monday through Friday 3pm - 11:30pm
Responsible for the maintenance and replacement of powered equipment batteries as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensures all material handling equipment batteries are effectively maintained for optimal performance and replaced as necessary.
- Conducts brake tests following each battery replacement.
- Adheres to work orders to achieve productivity goals.
- Expands knowledge of various systems.
- Communicates efficiently with colleagues to reduce potential equipment downtime.
- Ensures the highest quality of workmanship.
- Completes the daily Powered Industrial Truck (P.I.T.) checklist to verify equipment functionality and reports any issues to management or maintenance.
- Operates P.I.T. safely.
- Follows established safety protocols to enhance personal safety.
- Keeps a tidy work area and fosters a safe working environment in collaboration with the Maintenance department.
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education: High School diploma preferred.
Experience: Basic mechanical skills and general understanding of electrical safety protocols are required. 3-6 months of maintenance experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements: Must be capable of performing essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. The individual should possess sufficient physical fitness to handle frequent lifting, walking, standing, moderate climbing, occasional sitting, stooping, and kneeling. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required as per company standards.
Working Environment: The individual will work in a non-climate-controlled setting, where external weather conditions significantly influence the indoor temperature, although fans and heaters are utilized. The role may also involve outdoor work, exposing the individual to varying weather conditions. There may be exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles in accordance with OSHA regulations.
Availability: The individual will be required to work shifts and must be open to overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
