Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Technician B/C to join our team at our distribution center in Ashley, IN. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for providing safe, effective, and efficient preventative and repair maintenance to all Family Dollar transportation equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all necessary repairs to tractors, switchers, and trailers, excluding engine and transmission components.
  • Mount and dismount tires, and brand and place them in inventory.
  • Conduct periodic FHWA inspections, inbound equipment inspections, and PM follow-up work.
  • Assist in maintaining an accurate parts inventory system.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor and lead technician as needed.
  • Follow established safety procedures and guidelines to ensure personal safety.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, promoting a safe working environment within the Transportation department.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance, or a Diesel/Auto Technical School degree.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a Class A CDL is preferred.
  • Able to perform essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, including frequent lifting and moving up to 60 pounds.
Working Conditions

Team Members will work in a non-climate controlled atmosphere, exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles as regulated by OSHA.

Availability

Team Members will perform shift work and must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
