Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Vocational Education Instructor to join our team at Baltimore City Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with internal and external partners to provide related educational services and work-based learning experiences for students in a skills-based learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students in planning their career effectively
  • Create a career and professional development plan
  • Implement skills learned during studies
  • Provide students with opportunities to acquire understanding of actual employment settings
  • Apply problem-solving skills in the work environment
  • Develop effective communication techniques in the workplace
  • Utilize electronic systems to search and research career opportunities
  • Explore information and career resources
  • Acquire learning and self-management tools
  • Develop interpersonal competencies
  • Facilitate learned experiences to enhance long-term education and career goals
  • Serve as a liaison for program partners
  • Manage student work-based learning experiences, including internships and related activities
  • Manage mentorship-related activities with partners
Requirements
  • Valid Maryland State Department of Education Teaching license with Work-based Learning endorsement
  • Previous successful experience in teaching work-based learning/workforce management or youth engagement
  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of instructional strategies and methods
  • Ability to integrate technology with the curriculum
  • Problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to organize ideas, time, and materials to accomplish goals
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and plan with other staff members
  • Desire and willingness to continue to learn and pursue professional development
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and commitment to students reaching high learning standards
