Job Summary

The City of Dearborn seeks a highly skilled and experienced Director of Philanthropy and Grants to lead its fundraising efforts and manage grant-related activities. This key role will be responsible for developing and executing the City's philanthropic and grants strategy, cultivating new partnerships, and stewarding donor and grantor funds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and evaluate the City's philanthropic and grants strategy, making strategic recommendations to the Mayor and Council.
  • Effectively steward all donor and grantor funds, cultivating new potential partners and making donor and potential donor appointments, calls, and visits.
  • Develop, write, administer, and monitor grant-funding opportunities to obtain additional sources of income from government agencies or from private/philanthropic resources in support of City programs.
  • Coordinate grant-related activities with City departments, City officials, outside agencies, or others as needed, reporting availability of grant funding opportunities to department heads, City Administrator, City officials, or related agencies.
  • Compile and assemble data, information, and records related to departmental activity, maintaining personnel records and other documents as necessary.
  • Prepare regular status and special reports as requested by the Mayor or City Council, and as required by other entities.
  • Attend City Council meetings, complete special projects, and make presentations as requested.
Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, government, economics, social science, planning, or a related field is required. Experience in grant management, fundraising, and donor relations at the senior level is also required.
