Veteran Housing Specialist

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veteran Housing Specialist to join our team at the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans. As a key member of our Housing Subsidy team, you will play a critical role in providing case management services to Veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive client assessments to identify issues and barriers to housing stability
- Develop and implement housing stability plans with Veterans to address their unique needs and goals
- Provide case management services from a harm-reduction and strength-based model, using Motivational Interviewing techniques to support client progress
- Coordinate with community agencies and service providers to ensure access to necessary resources and services
- Maintain strong working relationships with landlords and property managers to ensure lease compliance and ongoing support
- Work collaboratively with program staff to ensure compliance with grant outcomes and program implementation
Requirements:
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working with individuals who are homeless, chemically dependent, or have a mental illness
- College degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field (social work, human services)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Salesforce
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of client tracking systems and database management
- Experience working with Veterans and their families
- Good presentation skills to small groups
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
