Position Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled Construction Project Leader to join a well-respected General Contractor in the Boston area. This role will focus on overseeing significant construction initiatives within the higher education and academic sectors.

Key Responsibilities

As the Construction Project Leader, your duties will include:

  • Developing and implementing the project control strategy to manage production rates and quality across all projects, while also overseeing associated costs and anticipated revenues.
  • Creating baseline construction schedules and ensuring adherence to timelines and deadlines.
  • Obtaining necessary building permits, licenses, and occupancy certificates.
  • Overseeing construction activities through administrative guidance of on-site Superintendents to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, while addressing any critical issues that arise.
  • Managing the financial aspects of contracts, including fee payments and rental equipment, to safeguard the company's interests while fostering positive relationships with clients and architects. Regularly reviewing job cost reports to maintain accurate financial tracking.
  • Facilitating meetings with owners, architects, and engineers to secure approvals and discuss project procedures, progress, challenges, and scheduling.
  • Assisting in the preparation of bid day documentation.
  • Promptly documenting and distributing meeting minutes.
  • Coordinating progress meetings with trade contractors and construction superintendents.
  • Arranging schedules for equipment, materials, shop drawing submissions, and deliveries.
  • Taking on additional responsibilities or special projects as required.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for the Construction Project Leader position will possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Construction Technology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of experience in a Project Manager role, particularly in leading projects.
  • Experience in life sciences, healthcare, or higher education sectors, specifically working with a General Contractor.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and strong computer skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
