Job Title: HR Manager

Job Summary:

The HR Manager will oversee the Human Resources functions for NAMI Orange County, a non-profit organization with approximately 180 employees. This role will manage the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs. The HR Manager will support managers and staff by ensuring effective and compliant HR practices are in place.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Policy Development & Compliance:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Update and communicate HR policies as needed to ensure alignment with organizational goals and best practices.
  • Conduct regular reviews of employee handbooks, manuals, and documentation to ensure compliance.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:
  • Lead recruitment efforts for all positions within the organization, including creating job postings, screening candidates, coordinating interviews, and managing offer processes.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies.
  • Manage the onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a positive experience for new hires and departing employees.
Performance Management & Employee Relations:
  • Oversee performance management processes, including Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), employee evaluations, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Advise and support supervisors in managing employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to promote employee engagement and a positive workplace culture.
Benefits Administration:
  • Manage and administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding benefit-related questions and concerns.
  • Coordinate annual benefits enrollment and communicate changes or updates to employees.
HR Operations & Records Management:
  • Maintain accurate HR records and ensure data integrity in HR systems.
  • Supervise HR Generalist and ensure timely completion of HR-related administrative tasks.
  • Oversee the maintenance of employee personnel files and confidential records.
Organizational Development & Training:
  • Identify training needs and opportunities for employee development.
  • Create and implement training programs, workshops, and resources to enhance skills and performance.
Strategic Planning & Collaboration:
  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic HR initiatives that support organizational goals.
  • Contribute to discussions regarding organizational growth, workforce planning, and change management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of HR experience, preferably in a non-profit or mission-driven organization.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with HR software and data management systems.

  • Primarily office-based with occasional travel to local offices or events.
  • Flexibility in work hours to support organizational needs, including occasional evening or weekend events.

Compensation:

$31-34 per hour. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Comprehensive benefits package offered, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
