Job Summary

Bachem is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Maintenance Operations to join our team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for the coordination and direction of facility and equipment maintenance, ensuring full compliance with GMP requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement maintenance programs to ensure compliance with GMP requirements
  • Manage the maintenance budget and control costs within the department
  • Supervise and train maintenance staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operation of the facility and equipment
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and cost savings
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance services
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including equipment history files and maintenance schedules
  • Participate in the development and implementation of capital projects and equipment upgrades
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in facility and equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and engineering
  • Experience with equipment and instrument qualification and calibration
  • Experience with peptides (preferred)
  • Technical knowledge of facility equipment, analytical instrumentation, process equipment, and all associated applications
  • Ability to manage and lead a team
  • Proficiency with technical writing
  • Working knowledge of cGMPs as they relate to a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility
  • Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems
  • Proficient in reading schematics and diagrams as well as other written materials
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment
  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues
  • Ability to work independently and manage one's time
  • Communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment
