Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Engagement Specialist to join our team at Faith Mission in Columbus, Ohio. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents, clients, volunteers, and others.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate a strong commitment to serving others. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to residents, clients, volunteers, and others
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in resident dorms and assigned areas
  • Greets volunteers, residents, and prospective residents, providing communication, information, and supplies as needed
  • Assigns and supervises resident service work, encouraging residents to participate in agency services and campus community
  • Holds shelter residents accountable for upholding shelter rules and expectations, communicating issues or concerns to Manager or Case Manager as appropriate
  • Takes resident attendance, maintains bed count, and ensures shelter capacity
  • Assists in donation receiving and delivery
  • Provides information to clients on Faith Mission and other services, such as medical, dental, and vision care, community resources, and diversion services
  • Escorts volunteers and staff between buildings as needed

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required
  • Experience working with homeless or special needs populations preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, as needed
