Job Summary

Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is seeking a Security Officer to join our team at Faith Mission in Columbus, Ohio. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our facilities and the individuals we serve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perimeter Checks: Perform regular perimeter checks of Faith Mission shelters and area businesses to monitor security and safety.
  • Internal Inspections: Conduct internal inspections of Faith Mission facilities to ensure security and identify potential concerns.
  • Incident Response: Respond to security incidents or concerns, and investigate and document all occurrences.
  • Transportation: Use Agency vehicles to transport clients, employees, and materials as needed.
  • Reporting: Track and document all incidents, accidents, or unusual activity in the Security Log and create shift reports for the Security Coordinator.
  • Searches: Conduct searches according to Faith Mission policies and procedures, as directed by Shelter management.
  • Escort Services: Escort staff, volunteers, visitors, and other persons between buildings, parking areas, etc.
  • Donation Services: Assist Volunteers with unloading and securing donations.
  • Professional Demeanor: Maintain a professional demeanor at all times with residents, donors, volunteers, and other staff.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Driver's License: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Security Experience: Previous experience in a security role.
  • Judgment and Problem-Solving: Effective judgment and problem-solving skills to assess situations and manage to favorable outcomes.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate and work with a diverse group of individuals and in tense situations.
  • Conflict Resolution: Ability to handle and respond to conflict situations using de-escalation techniques.
  • Computer Skills: Experience with computers and MS Office applications.
