The People and Culture Manager plays a crucial role in advancing People & Culture initiatives while ensuring adherence to labor laws and organizational policies.
This position demands substantial expertise in legal compliance and benefits administration, encompassing health, leave of absence (LOA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Workers' Compensation.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, possess strong interpersonal skills, and have a profound understanding of People & Culture practices alongside state-specific labor laws and policies.
Key Duties Include:- Collaborating with the Generalist II and healthcare vendors to update the Benefits Guide, coordinate open enrollment, and manage new hire enrollment and qualifying events.
- Serving as the primary contact for employee inquiries and concerns.
- Managing LOA and ADA processes in partnership with the Generalist II, Business Partner, and other stakeholders, including work accommodations and modified duty arrangements.
- Overseeing Workers' Compensation claims and coordinating with insurance providers to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Ensuring adherence to labor laws and organizational policies, updating them as necessary, and staying informed about changes in regulations.
- Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the employee handbook to reflect current laws and organizational policies.
- Tracking the effectiveness of training programs and collaborating with Business Partners on performance improvement plans.
Essential Skills and Experience
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- In-depth knowledge of People & Culture best practices and the ability to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to build trust and respect among staff and leadership.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, with a high degree of patience and tact.
- Proficiency in maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information professionally.
A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required, along with preferred certifications such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or PHR-CA.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources, particularly in benefits and compliance, with a strong understanding of labor laws and HR best practices.
