The Transportation Operations Manager is a vital role at RATP Dev, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of transportation services for Asheville Redefines Transit (ART).

As a key member of the team, this individual will oversee all aspects of transportation operations, including routing and scheduling, monitoring sign-in and sign-out times, and recommending route adjustments to optimize productivity and reduce overtime.

This role requires a high level of organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines. Excellent customer service skills are also essential, as this individual will be the primary point of contact for passengers and customers.

The Transportation Operations Manager will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

  • Overseeing the routing and scheduling of buses, including recommending route adjustments to optimize productivity and reduce overtime
  • Monitoring sign-in and sign-out times for each route, and tracking daily attendance
  • Collecting and documenting pre-trip/post-trip inspection reports from bus operators, and reporting vehicles needing repairs to the maintenance department
  • Scheduling daily bus operator assignments, and ensuring the timely delivery of these assignments
  • Providing route information and direction assistance to passengers/customers, and answering phones and helping customers at the Transit Center Information Window
  • Maintaining inventory of tickets and passes, and conducting daily fare box counts and deposit of sales
  • Ensuring safe entry and exit of buses at the Transit Center, and announcing bus arrivals
  • Providing public notice of holidays, route changes, and late buses, and making good judgment calls on rerouting service in case of an emergency or other situation
