Senior Civil Engineer - Public Works

Location: Denver, Colorado · Architecture/Engineering

Position Overview: We are seeking a full-time Senior Civil Engineer - Public Works for our Denver office. The ideal candidate will possess over 10 years of experience and hold a Professional Engineer license in Colorado, specifically with a focus on Public Works initiatives. Responsibilities encompass initial project assessments, overseeing plan production and managing the production team, processing plans, administering construction, and concluding project efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Lead Civil Engineer within Public Works practices.
  • Draft preliminary engineering reports.
  • Investigate jurisdictional requirements for integration into design and construction documentation.
  • Develop proposals, contracts, and project work plans with timelines.
  • Create design and construction drawings utilizing AutoCAD and insights from research.
  • Facilitate client management and marketing strategies for prospective projects.
  • Generate GIS exhibits using ArcGIS.
  • Conduct site evaluations and document observations.
  • Collaborate directly with clients and supervise a diverse team.
  • Attend meetings, record minutes, and assist with project correspondence.
  • Prepare graphic materials for presentations and documentation.
  • Oversee staff in hydrology, hydraulic tasks, flood assessments, and stormwater management.
  • Initiate and lead project kickoff calls and high-level design discussions with clients, as well as prepare monthly forecasts and cost estimates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
  • Must possess a valid PE license in Colorado with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in producing comprehensive construction plans and reports.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a collaborative environment and manage multiple projects with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, conveying engineering concepts clearly.
  • Capability to mentor staff and evaluate work for quality assurance.
  • Strong leadership and management capabilities, self-driven, with a focus on meeting deadlines and client satisfaction.
  • Familiarity with MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Civil3D is advantageous.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Consistent proactive communication with clients, addressing issues promptly.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships for effective communication and problem resolution.
  • Diagnose issues and propose solutions, implementing and documenting for stakeholders.

The salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Total compensation includes a base salary and potential participation in an annual bonus program.
